Almost Accident

Witnessed an almost accident yesterday evening at the cross-junction in front of my house...

It all happened at a split second, so at that moment, it was not easy to say whose fault that was...but my gut feel was the car...

Together w a few pedestrians, there was this bicycle rider w a passenger, both young boys (I think most likely upper primary) were waiting for the green man to appear before crossing...n it happened when this big car was trying to make a right turn just when the green arrow was already flashing...

When the green man appeared, we made out way out...then we heard this loud bang, then in front of me was that bicycle ‘banging’ into the car’s side...then the 2 boys shouted some foul words...from that moment, all I saw was that the car was already beyond the 2nd white line, so in a way, it blocked the traffic from the other side as well as the pedestrians path...to me, it should be the fault of the driver...he must be trying to beat the lights but couldn’t, so he made an emergency brake n it resulted in the bicycle not able to stop or react n thus banged onto it...then as the car ‘parked’ there, all the pedestrians had some difficulty trying to cross the road n also the other vehicles at the alternate direction at the left most lane...when the bicycle crossed, both were still shouting words like, u think u own the road?! etc...

It was lucky that it was the bicycle that banged into car’s side n not the other way round...

后来，因《唯我独尊》，让我看到这首歌的词...还觉得蛮温馨的...
其中有一句，是我一直想努力为他做的...希望他知道，我一直在学...

D&D 20Jun08

Before I came onboard officially, my manager had already registered for me to the company’s D&D held yesterday, 20Jun08 @ Suntec Convention Hall...the overall theme is Formula Race and the company is divided into 4 teams,

Spartans – in red,
Mustang – in blue,
Royal Racers – in yellow, &
Tornados – in white.

In total, there were abt 200+ tables...wow, very magnificent...n the whole event was quite amazing, fun, happening...

Some photos from the Race...in the end, Spartans came in first, Tornados second, Mustang third & Royal Racers fourth...from the pictures below, it shouldn't be difficult to guess which team i belonged to... :p

Hong Kong 15-20 May2008

HY n I had been trying to arrange a trip together since a long long time ago...finally OUR trip materialized last mth (May08) n we went to Hong Kong for 6days 5 nites...

So just some photos from the trip...it was really a fun trip :)

First week of work

Well, this first week of work is a mix of feelings between fresh exposure and boredom...
Fresh exposure is because this is a new company in a new industry...a totally different industry from my previous company...so, no more patient days, specialties or UOS...Instead now is passengers, ridership... here, the analysis work is different from my previous co., so there are new things to be learnt...n thus, I’m looking forward to hands-on experience on this...
Boredom is because it’s the first week, nothing ‘real’ to do yet and our part on the mthly closing are supposed to only start next week...Mgr went on leave from Wed pm till next Fri...She gave me a brief orientation of the work to be done, then the rest of the time, I just look thru the files and try to understand them…Snr Mgr just came back today from her holiday (my first day to see her after my last interview w her)...she said she’s quite tied up today so can only go through and maybe give me things to do on Monday...hmm, I really hope so...
Yesterday, the CFO's secretary bought me n my colleague (who joined 3 weeks before me) around the building to the different dept...interesting building...
It’s really kind of tiring to have nothing to do in the office...but I hope this can pass soon and I can have real work to do...about 1 hr more to end of day...can the clock tick faster? :p
Colleagues – so far seem quite nice...quite friendly n easy to talk to... :)

My days w PW

15 Feb 2006 – first day of work @ PW...started my first experience as a FA...i thank the mgr EK to hire me cos I had no prior experience at all...this day also started my deep interest in FA...

All in all, 2yrs 3.5mths in PW...what have I gained? To me, what I have gained are mostly the frens I’ve made + the work experiences I have gained...

Frens – just to list down a few ‘influential’ ones that made a difference in me, the list is not exhaustive...just that I cant list all of them down...
1. Su – when I first joined, she was the SFA in-charge of GHL...i was tasked to take over GHL from her such that she can have a more overview of the 3 hospitals...during the course of training w Su who’s a great teacher, I learnt a lot from her especially in being very detailed...n I absolutely salute the way she does proforma evaluations...from top to bottom with different scenarios/assumptions...so in my ‘growing up’, she has taught me a lot...n I really enjoyed my first yr budget w her...we worked very hard together...then when the mgr EK left, the Asst mgr was promoted to Mgr, the SFA to AM, then the most senior FA was promoted to SFA...i remember the mgr once commented that Su is very biased...she’s only good to me – GHL...but I disagree...the mgr herself is also very positively biased towards the MEH FA...
2. HH & SC – thanks to ‘that’ room @ 11th floor which led me to know these 2 frens...both had left PW earlier than me...but I’m happy that we still make the effort to meet up n also on msn...
3. PP – also a GHL FA for abt 5mths, someone who’s always in black / white...have always enjoyed our lunch, shopping n coffee...i’m surprised that within these 5mths, we have become closer n after she left, she still made the effort to drop by my office twice to visit me...really very touched by her gestures...
4. LL – she helped me ‘see’ a lot of things in a clearer way, she’s also a very good listener, good advisor, good fren...n thanks for taking half day off to shop w me...ha...
5. W – my colleague recently said, last time budget time see me always work till very late so she wonder, aiyo work till so late how to find bf? But who knows work till so late not a bad idea cos I met him in the company...ha, true in some sense...but it’s not because of working late then know him...anyway, to be able to know him in PW is a very amazing thing...i hope it’s the same w him...

Out of coincidence, all the above 6persons I mentioned have all left PW...maybe it’s because they have left, n still continued to keep in touch w me that made me especially thankful in knowing them...i will continue to keep in touch w them n those colleagues who are still w PW... :)
