Went on a holiday to Beijing-Tianjin-Chengde-Beijing w my family – 4 of us + my bro’s gf...although the location is not really my no.1 choice, I dun mind going for a break as I really need one...
My overall impression of this trip:
1. the weather is very cold...sometimes single digit deg C, sometimes less than 0 deg C...although we’ve prepared the necessary winter clothes, it’s still very cold...esp our feet n fingers...Chengde’s temperature is even lower, 10 deg lower than Beijing...i think it’s hard to imagine how cold n numb our feet are after just walking for while...but, it’s a truly different experience...something that we will never experience in spore...
2. the food is very salty n oily...well, i dun really like salty n oily food...n their food has a certain smell...n therefore by day4, I almost lost my whole appetite...n i ate like what the 6-yr old mei-mei ate...ha...
3. everywhere is full of spits...well, I know this is the “custom” of china, but it’s simply too much n simply too unhygienic to just anyhow, anywhere spit...
4. nice scenery...great wall of china 万里长城, the forbidden city 紫禁城 (故宫), gong wang fu 恭王府, yi he yuan 颐和园, tian an men 天安门广场, summer palace 避暑山庄...
5. the air...can’t really feel the pollution but then my white shoes turned very black from the day I stepped into Beijing...i wonder why...but luckily my shoes reverted to it’s original form after I washed them... :p
