Birthday Eve

For lunch, I met up with R & S...I have a special affinity with R cos we were both born on the same day (just different years)...so we will always try to celebrate the special day together...we met at sakae sushi today n updated each other about the recent happenings...it was a very enjoyable lunch but I always think lunch during a weekday is normally not enough as we have restricted time...nevertheless, it’s the quality that counts...

For dinner, I met up with HY @ Hog’s breath café @ chijmes...but just before meeting her, I had a small fall (of all days, I had to fall on my birthday eve) n now, my left leg is left with a bruise...haiz...so clumsy...
Nevertheless, we had a very chatty, yummy n full dinner...

Whenever it's my birthday, i always feel very happy n lucky that i have such frens that i can celebrate with... :)

Counting down

I realize I like counting down…esp recent months…hmm, things that I can remember counting down to are,

In dec: counting down to end of budget n to the Beijing trip,
In jan: counting down to Jay Chou’s concert & W’s birthday…
In feb: counting down to coming back from M’sia so that I can see W again…
In mar: counting down to Jeff Chang’s concert…
In may: counting down to the Hong Kong trip + counting down to my last day of work…
In jun: counting down to W’s return from Vietnam,
In jul: counting down to W’s return from Dubai,

And basically counting down to every public holidays…so, now i'm also counting down to National Day n it’s definitely not for patriotic reasons :p

To me, the purpose of counting down serves a positive anticipation and it makes my life a bit more colorful if I have something waiting for me at the end of the rainbow…life is good when u have something to anticipate and counting down for… :)

My first AGM

I was nominated to act as proxy for shareholders who cannot attend the AGM...because of this, I had the chance to attend the AGM (but actually without this, I still could attend it) and also to know some of my other colleagues better...

In the AGM, saw our company’s chairman and other directors...it was an eye-opener when it was the Q&A session...some weird people can just ask or say the weirdest things...

We realized that in the AGM, there are a lot of older people...aunties & uncles...so my colleague said, when we are old, we should buy 1 lot of every company then can attend their AGMs to kill time...haha...i agree...

It was again an eye-opener during the refreshment after the AGM...those aunties & uncles simply just pile the food up on their plates, or simply just stand at the buffet table n refused to step away...giving no chance to other people...and the best is when the food is replenished, the food will be gone in seconds...amazing... :p

Celebrations

Thanks to my friends for celebrating with me...it’s always a joy to meet up with good friends, eat the food that we like, drink the things that we like, talk the things that we like (to some extent)...haha...

I’m really lucky to have such friends :)

Pure coincidence

In the morning, I just sms-ed her - Su, abt her korea trip photos which she replied thru email, then out of pure coincidence we met after work...outside raffles city...the timing was so exact...i crossed the road n she was walking out of robinson...n then we met...thanks for shouting out, if not, I could have missed her...haha...

She was carrying a robinson’s bag...i remember how we used to ‘chiong’ robinson sale...haha...i guess it’s hard to go back to the past...but at least we have fond memories :)

21

Ben, a very smart student at the MIT, wanted to study at Harvard Medical School but he didn’t have the money...furthermore, there was a huge number of contenders for the scholarship so it made his chance of getting the scholarship low...

His MIT math professor – “Micky” realized Ben’s ‘talent’ and asked him to join him and his team in earning big bucks...21 – blackjack...using some codes, signals and their superb math skills, they could easily ‘count’ the cards, so getting to win in the game is as easy as 123...

Originally, Ben had only wanted to win the school fees for Harvard - $300K...but soon, he ‘lost’ himself into the game...as getting rich and getting anything he wanted seems easier n easier...“at Vegas, u can be anyone u like” made him fall deeper into the game...so even when he had already ‘earned’ $315K, he didn’t stop...
In the process, he fell out w Micky and Micky sabotaged him by informing the casino’s loss prevention head – Cole, abt him and also making him fail to graduate from MIT...the worst was, he even took all of Ben’s money $315K...

With nothing, Ben decided to agree to Cole’s proposal to get Micky...so in the end, Cole got Micky but he did not abide to his terms, took all of Ben’s chips...however, Ben remembered from Mikey’s class, in all circumstances, always account for variable change...and, he had already ‘engaged’ his friends to help him win at the casino while his own chips were being ‘taken’ by Cole...

I quite like the story...it’s human nature to be greedy...n the moral for this story - always account for variable change... :p

But of course, never let greed run your head...
