Recently read an article in Mypaper abt friendship which made me think of an event that happened recently…
A group of us got to know each other in school…where we became very close friends, always coming together for lunch or dinner after school…after that, although we enrolled into different schools for further studies, we still organized gatherings here n then…however in recent years, the number of gatherings can be only once a yr or even less than that…the only reason I could think of is that, we have our own lives to live, we are all busy w our own work/career, partners/family or other friends and have subconsciously put this group of friends aside…the last gathering we had was Jul last yr where they gave me a surprised bday celebration…since then, I think SL n I tried to organize something in Jan this yr but not successful…so we decided to organize something again this Aug…after a lot of ding-dongs, we finally settled on a date but near to that date, AM said she could not make it, so we all decided to postpone it to the following week to cross over to Sep…first proposed day Sunday – SL n I can’t make it…then second proposed day Saturday – MX can’t make it…final email ended w something like “we have to find another day then”…more than 2 weeks since that email…no one initiated anything…
I wonder – are we all tired of trying to fix a date? Or we simply dun care abt this ~14-yr friendship anymore? Or has our friendship reached the peak during school time and now it’s just coming downslope? Or has our friendship ended with all of us growing up n living our own lives, and that our lives no longer include this group of friends?? Or those “friends forever” that we used to write in autograph books or what we claimed didn’t exist anymore? anyway, i think it takes 2hands to clap...
Maybe I’m just making a mountain out of a molehill…
